I have now taken my first vows.  According to ancient tradition a monk receives a new name at this time.  I am now Brother Placid Dale, O.S.B.

I am currently living as a Novice Benedictine Monk of Conception Abbey in Northwest Missouri. I came as a volunteer in September of 2006 and was received into the community on April 10th of 2007 as a Postulant. I was accepted into the Novitiate on August the 14th that same year. Currently I am approaching my half-way mark in my novitiate and if everything goes well I will make vows on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary this year, 2008. For me life here has been wonderful and blessed. I feel a deep peace that can only come through Christ our Lord and Beautiful Savior. I am grateful for my life here and all the people that have given me the courage to make it to this place. My memories turn, with love, to CCM and my time there; which I can only describe as a gift from God. Know of my constant prayers for CCM and all the wonderful people that enliven it.

God Bless you all.

With love and prayers,

Novice Isaac Dale

Hello CCMers! It has been two years since I left Springfield, and I am graduating (with my Master's in Library Science) in December 2008 from the University of Missouri. I have missed you all deeply, but found a new church home at the St. Thomas Moore Newman Center here in Columbia. I am active with the 11:00 AM and 9:00 PM (Student Mass) choirs, also becoming a canter for both Masses). I also participated in many different CSA (Catholic Student Association) events, such as Awakenings and homecoming events. Now that I am graduating, I am preparing to move home to O'Fallon, and begin the daunting task of job hunting. I am going to join Assumption church there, and get involved with the music ministry, and hopefully another group or something like that.

Alibi, my Seeing Eye dog, and I are doing beautifully. She turns 6 in April, and we have been together for three and a half years. I hope you are all well in Springfield, and I will drop in to visit next time I am in the area.

I love and miss you all!

Your devoted Sister in Christ,

Mandy Dovin

Things are well here in Massachusetts.

I do have some baby news! Sean and I have a healthy baby boy! Michael James was born on March 22. He's just 6 weeks old and doing great. I absolutely love him.  I am loving being a mom.

Hi to Everyone in Springfield.

Hello everyone! In case you haven't heard yet, Mike and I will be moving the 1st of Sept. We only get one day to move, but it shouldn't be too bad with the number of hands willing to help. It is a larger one-bedroom on the ground level. Slowly, but surely, we are moving up :) Here's the address we will move to on the 1st.

Things are going as well as can be expected for us. We keep busy with the jobs and cleaning in the apt...no dishwasher make for lots of dirty dishes to wash by hand now that we're cooking more. I know we have been slow to get any "thank you's" out...they will come. We are very happy to have had everyone at the wedding that could make it and understand if you weren't there. We are grateful for all the gifts and cards. We will do our best to stay in touch as we get things a little more settled around here. Hope to hear your updates as they go :)

Take care!

~Alicia & Mike
