The Eucharistic Chapel
is located
in
the Chapel of the Claretian Martyrs.
The Tabernacle: While the 51 Claretian Martyrs were in prison waiting execution,
the community received permission from the communists to bring them breakfast in
the form of bread rolls. These men were not allowed to attend Mass nor
receive Holy Communion. The local priest took these rolls of bread and hid
Holy Communion inside them so the prisoners could receive Communion. The
Breadbasket in 1936 became a real tabernacle for the Eucharist, as it is today
in our Chapel dedicated to the Claretian Martyrs.
The stained glass doors were brought here
from the chapel
in the Nancy McGregor House.
