Fr. Eddie De León, C.M.F.

 

 

 

Fr. Eddie has been with the Claretian Missionaries for about 24 years.  He served as a Claretian Volunteer for 2 years and was Associate Director (1 year) and Director (1 year) at Casa Claret, a Claretian college house of studies in Chicago.  After being ordained to the priesthood with the Claretian Order on June 30, 1991, he moved to Springfield and joined the staff of Catholic Campus Ministry in August, 1991.  

He became Director of CCM in 1992 and continued in that position until 2004.  He was then elected Provincial Superior of the Claretian Missionaries of the Eastern Province, stationed in Chicago.

He was replaced as director by Fr. Len Brown, C.M.F.

Fr. Eddie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies from Mundelein College in Chicago on June 6, 1982, and a Master of Divinity with Word/Worship Specialization at Catholic Theological Union (Chicago) on June 6, 1991.  While at CTU he served as the student body president.  Currently Fr. Eddie is a Doctoral student with the Aquinas Institute at St. Louis University.

Fr. Eddie sees great potential in college students and works with them to achieve success in their lives to become future leaders in Church and Society.

On June 8, 2004, Fr. Eddie was chosen by the Provincial Council of the Eastern Province of the Claretian Missionaries of the United States to be the next Provincial.  

Catholic Campus Ministry is indebted to Fr. Eddie for the leadership he has given the ministry during the 11 years he has been director.  The CCM Community congratulates Fr. Eddie on his appointment as Provincial and wishes him success in his new ministry.
